Valuing Nature Annual Conference 2017 - Background

The Valuing Nature Annual Conference will be held in Edinburgh on 18 & 19 October 2017

Apply for a place at the conference and (optional) submit an abstract to give a talk, bring a poster, or contribute in other ways here.

Come to the Valuing Nature Conference to hear the latest research findings on this dynamic arena of research and practice and share your own innovations, ideas and questions. The Conference will cover the diverse range of topics relating to Valuing Nature and is open to UK and international delegates from research, policy, business and practice. Topics discussed will include the two research goals of the Valuing Nature Programme –interrogating the link between environment in human health & wellbeing, and valuing ecosystem services in the context of Tipping Points. Alongside formal paper and poster sessions, we are also running interactive activity sessions allowing attendees with to think, learn and share experience around topics salient to the valuing nature community and its future work

Last year attendees told us they particularly valued meeting a diverse range of people they would not have met at any other event.   The conference brings together people working on similar Valuing Nature challenges but taking different approaches, in practice and across academic disciplines.  To build on this we have included plenty of time for networking and for showcasing new work – in sessions that will be fun, stimulating and novel as well as useful!

Finally, this conference aims to continue to build the Valuing Nature Network, and also to look beyond the end of this programme in 2019/20.  We will discuss how the future Valuing Nature agenda will need to develop and consider the international remit, particularly learning from international programmes.
