Hosted by NCI and the UK Network of Environmental Economists (UKNEE)
Venue: Charles Darwin House, 12 Roger Street, London WC1N 2JU
The UK has a proud tradition of evidence-based policy making, including for the environment. It is, however, a tradition facing an unpredictable future in light of changes to policy priorities, the role of public sector and research budgets. Brexit brings added uncertainty for the future.
Yet there are clear prospects for scientific expertise and innovative ideas to influence the direction of policy – from agri-environment to fisheries. How can we make the case for research, and frame it in a manner that is practical and useful to inform policy making?
Hosted by NCI and the UK Network of Environmental Economists (UKNEE), this event provides a multidisciplinary forum to explore the risks and opportunities that accompany this change. Our speakers will both present evidence and pose questions to make this an engaging and memorable debate… no doubt one of many we will need to have going forward, not least in contributing to the forthcoming Great Repeal Bill.
Chair: Nick Molho, Executive Director, Aldersgate Group
