Global Food Security funding call: "Resilience of the UK food system in a global context"

The first call of the new Global Food Security programme "Resilience of the UK food system in a global context" is now open. £14M is available over five years to support interdisciplinary research projects.

The call is relevant to Valuing Nature concepts about the different types of valuation needed for decisions that affect the environment, for example:

the recognition that food production sits alongside other valued ecosystem services (e.g. provision of water, flood defence, protection of biodiversity and the cultural value of the landscape)
the economic valuation and environmental understanding involved in optimising resilience of local and global food supply chains
the values people take into account in making food choices and the knock-on effects on human health.

The call closes on 27 October 2015. Further information is available from NERC and BBSRC.
