Defra would welcome one or more placements to provide evidence and analysis in support of the development and implementation of a comprehensive 25 year plan which will address all aspects of the environment including: air, water, land, wildlife, marine, waste and resources and how we better manage them. The placement(s) would contribute to work in Defra’s Environment Analysis Unit (EAU) and could include one of more of the following topics: review and development of a system of natural capital metrics for tracking progress and supporting decision-making at national and local levels; synthesis of evidence concerning the effectiveness of policy interventions to improve natural capital assets and understanding the multiple benefits they provide; application of models and scenarios at local and national scale to inform the integrated management of natural capital assets to maximise societal benefits. The placements would work closely with policy teams in Defra and evidence teams across the Defra Group (including Natural England, Environment Agency and the Forestry Commission). The placements would be based with other analysts within the EAU at Defra offices in London, Bristol or York. This is a fantastic opportunity to apply your knowledge and skills in a fast moving, creative policy environment and to learn about how evidence is used in making policy.
