The Arts and Humanities Research Council is inviting applications to calls funded through the Strategic Priorities Fund (SPF) 'Landscape Decisions: Towards a new framework for using land assets' programme.  Closing date: 21/11/2019.

This call is intended to encourage the development of follow-on proposals which will enhance the impact of arts and humanities research funded by the UK Research Councils on decision-making related to the landscape, land-use and land assets.

Transforming the UK food system for healthy people and a healthy environment: Funding Call and Workshops

UK Research and Innovation (UKRI) will shortly announce a call for research to fundamentally transform the UK food system, by placing healthy people and a healthy natural environment at its centre. Proposals will be invited for interdisciplinary consortia to take a food systems approach, linking healthy and accessible diets with sustainable food production and supply to help drive food system transformation.


Going fishing

We’ve all seen them at the sea side, in all weathers, throwing their lines out into the blue, well I thought I better get out there and see what it’s all about. So I borrowed a rod, and headed out sea angling off the North Norfolk coast. I may have failed to check the tide, and the weather forecast, and ended up soaking wet with not a tiddler to write home about, but being an outdoorsy type I had a great time and came home feeling refreshed and alive. However I know that some people don’t get the appeal. So what is it that attracts so many people to recreational sea angling?
