The Medical Entomology group at Public Health England conduct UK surveillance of human disease vectors (mosquitoes, ticks) and conduct field-based research on the impact of extreme events (drought, flooding on mosquitoes), wetland creation and management (on mosquitoes), woodland management (on ticks) and urban green space management (on ticks).
We are interested in extending this work, building in vector management through habitat management whilst also increase the value of nature to humans.
One particular interest is in developing management guidelines for natural habitats to minimise human exposure to disease vectors.
